FROM ONE PUBLIC SERVICE TO ANOTHER – The transformation of Hasanpaşa Gasworks into a public park and museum complex. The former Hasanpaşa Gasworks is an industrial complex made up of 22 production machines, storage units and service buildings, and is situated on some thirty-thousand square meter site in Kadıköy on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. Following the closure of the plant in 1993, the site was deserted and left in a derelict state. Hasanpaşa Gasworks is one of the most important industrial heritage sites in Istanbul. The founding of the plant dates back to the late-19th century, when Kadıköy was a small district and not nearly organized enough to require such an extensive public service with high development and operation costs.

An ”invisible” villa built as an addition to a historic farm and is integrated respectfully into the surrounding protected nature.. The historic farm building is situated in a protected countryside near the Oslo Fjord, which has been inhabited since the Viking Age. Villa Aa is built as a residence for the next generation of the family on the farm and is designed to adapt to the regulations for the protected area, the nature of the site, and the use as both an office and a home.

We Labotory settled a tagline “Tear down the time – break down time” for Musinsa Standard, as it interprets the spatial concept of  timeless through past, present, and future in our own design language. Musinsa Standard Hongdae consists of 4 floors. The first basement floor to the second floor and the 1.5th floor in between. The  circulation that starts on the first floor and leads to the present (first floor), and the future (1.5 floor), the present (second floor), and the  first basement (past) is expressed as a narrative of the time.

Vietnam is considered one of the country’s most vulnerable to climate change in the world. Climatic phenomena such as floods, typhoons, heat wave and drought are expected to increase both in intensity and frequency over the coming years. Amongst the various issues Vietnamese cities are facing, heat waves are probably the longest and the most cyclic events.

Sumsei Terarium / NONE SPACE

We focused on a special story of our brand in order to spread the strengths of Sumsei in the room. Sumsei has products that mostly encounter bare bodies or bare feet, such as ‘body dryer’ which is the leading product that is used to easily dry the body after shower. We paid attention to the fact that it is the closest brand to our body among many products that we easily pass by in our daily life. Wind blows when we stand up on Sumsei with a bare body, and the wind slowly awakens our senses. The awakening of the senses is the process of constantly redefining oneself by the senses from recognizing one’s body as the subject of the senses. Sumsei awakens our senses from head to toes and constantly ventilates our existence like the poem “Flower” by the poet Kim Choon Soo and the “rose” of the Little Prince, and this is the key element to unraveling the space of Sumsei.

Confronting the land on which architecture was built – This is the renovation of a wooden building that stands on the site of a shell mound that bears traces of the early Jomon period, about 15,000 years ago. The building was built as a share house (six rooms), but it was sold three years later.
