Today’s city is submerged in the products faithful to heterogeneous desires and is left in the middle of a competition between distressing urban structures. The collisions/conflicts among many different desires relentlessly happen in every corner of the city saturating the city with a pile of desires and erasing the beauty of moderation.

AKQA, an international advertising agency that planned to come to Brazil, commissioned Estúdio Penha to design a home-based office with the warmth and soul characteristic of our projects. There were many challenges, a house that should adapt to a great program of needs for its complete functioning: spaces for the clients conviviality, production, creators and all the support structure. However, its adaptation to the new reality required a horizontal and vertical enlargement.

The site of this single story residence is at the base of the Teton Mountain range with views of canyons and peaks. To respond to this topographical edge condition, the form of the primary living space rises to capture this view.

This is a one-story residential house for a family of four―a couple and two children―and is built in Komoro City, Nagano Prefecture. With views of Mount Asama to the north and the Yatsugatake Mountains far south, I planned a simple one-story house with a shed roof and an open space on the south side. This property of about 450 m2 is in the shape of a flagpole, where the pole part accounts for 80 m2.

The House sits on a mountain top in a remote beach town called Playa Negra. It is a vacation home for a New York couple that was interested in a home away from home that not only adapted well to its surroundings but was instrumental to understanding them.

Residential building located at the intersection of two tree-lined and busy streets, a few meters from the main avenues and university centers of the city of Rosario, with an ideal environment for young people and students. The corner land, with north and west orientation, and the city regulations allow the total occupation of the lot, ventilating all the rooms to the two fronts.

The Emerald Hills Leisure Centre caters specifically to leisure, therapeutic, and learn-to-swim programming. The facility is co-joined to an existing Catholic High School with an operating partnership to create a shared ‘Community Centre’ as well as aquatic programming for students.

To what extent will the architecture of a house sought to become in a constant changing contemporary context?

“Flower cage house” is a former housing estate size 60 sq.wa with an internal area of 300 sq.m. The owner wants to renovate the house that was over 10 years to provide space that suits the needs to its full capacity. From home survey, architects have proposed to adjust the interior space, bring in natural light and add the multipurpose area over the original garage.

As the urban dweller tired from the stresses of everyday life, seeking rejuvenation, turns towards nature, his quest is to seek inner joy, unbound his energies to become one with the forces of nature.
