fran silvestre arquitectos completes the hofmann house, a residential project in valencia, spain. the house, photographed by fernando guerra, is sited on a large and elongated plot among a landscape surrounded by gardens, with a distant view of the sea. an extruded vertical cover in the longitudinal direction of the T-shaped site offers a geometry which lets the occupant ‘feel the sea,’ while ensuring a visual disconnect from neighbors and sense of solitude. this partition cover controls the southern sun from penetrating the interior of the house during the summer and lets it pass through in winter.

fran silvestre arquitectos further ensured the privacy of the occupants by surrounding the project within a ‘cabinet.’ this exterior element lines the boundary of the site and makes up the project’s outermost layer of enclosure. the house itself is wrapped with an entirely glass facade, offering views from the outward-looking living spaces. this glass perimeter surrounds the final level of enclosure, an opaque core which houses the private programs of the house. the living spaces encircling this core are entirely open to the adjacent garden and terrace
