Archi-Tectonics converted a long and narrow industrial structure in SoHo into a spacious and flexible 8-story family home. The size of the space was doubled by adding a 4-story structure to the original townhouse, and by unifying the two volumes with a 3d envelope: the Climate Skin.
This building is a store and apartment complex in the Oku-Asakusa area, northwest of Sensoji Temple, where the population is aging.By building a 4-floor building without using up the floor-area ratio, the cost of the elevators was allocated to the private areas. The aim was to create a new hub of activity in the area by attracting young people to live and store.
We have updated the windowsills of the dwelling units to be closer to the external environment of the housing complex.

The Silo is part of the transformation of Copenhagen’s Nordhavn (North Harbour) – a vast post-industrial development, currently being transformed into a new city district. Designed by Danish architects COBE with clients Klaus Kastbjerg and NRE Denmark, a 17-storey former grain silo and the largest industrial building in the area has been transformed into “The Silo”, housing residential apartments and public functions.
The apartment is located in the center of St. Petersburg not far from St. Isaac’s Cathedral. The main task of the project was to preserve the original space of the main room of the apartment with large windows, therefore, all the main areas (living room, kitchen, and bedrooms) are located along with the windows, and utility rooms and bathrooms are located along the blank wall.
The project is located in the new neighbourhood of Vermonnitty in Espoo, Finland. The building is low-cost state subsidized rental housing with a variety of different apartments. The building was the first built project in the neighbourhood and we wanted to give it a strong character.
At downtown São Paulo this 138 m² apartment was renovated with the following premise – to honor the building’s history and the neighborhood where it sits while also having this context fit the current reality of it’s new resident.
How much can you let the nature of the city flow in – The idea of designing architecture like a natural environment has not changed since I have founded my own office but recently its way of thinking has changed a bit. Even though the soft form and the space containing the difference have the certain possibility, it seems that “naturalness” is considered as the degree of influx of things that cannot be controlled completely by others.
