Le Safran 50 Housing Units / ALTA

The site of the ZAC Coeur de Poulfanc in Séné presents an exceptional quality of landscape. Its gentle topography (seen to the right of our site) and its woodland framing make it a very characterful site. These elements are highlighted by the architecture and volumetry of the buildings. The design and conception of the project is based on an initial idea postulated as a statement: ‘Above all else, not to work against the existing landscape by enforcing on it a residential model, but to propose a development of the built environment that is in keeping with the natural qualities of the site’.

Earth, oxygen, and urban connection. The Housing Building is silently inserted in the neighborhood of Las Mercedes, a low-scale residential area in Asunción on a constant transformation or densification process. It is built on a small plot (8.40m x 25m) and tries to operate with the greatest respect in a consolidated housing area in the context of ceramics and greenery.

Located in front of the monumental complex of Cordoba (Spain), Campo de la Verdad has gone through a major transformation in recent years. The refurbishment of the Roman Bridge and the surroundings of the Calahorra Tower, as well as the construction of Miraflores Bridge, have substantially improved the connection between the two banks of the Guadalquivir river. In addition, important facilities such as the new Miraflores Park and the Andalusian Centre for Contemporary Creation C4 have eliminated the condition of suburbs outside the city walls that have historically characterized this place. From this point of view, the site, now part of a strategic location in the city, must be understood not only in relation to the local pattern but also to this new condition.

Possibility of a small building – The site was too small to build a building commonly referred to as a building. Besides, it had to setback 3m from the building line because of the aesthetic zone. In this situation, we began to take a closer look at the site. In order to fully utilize this site as an economic logic, it had to go up high but narrow. That made the building vulnerable to lateral forces, and the size of the columns exceeded the size we usually imagine.
