WaterHall Project / Orient Occident Atelier

WaterHall Project, located in Sneung Village of Battambang in Cambodia, houses a pump and filter system that generates clean water for locals. This social project won the Hong Kong Institute of Architects community funding. Waterhall Project sustainably provides safe drinking water to underprivileged communities, whilst creating a social hub to garner social gatherings, celebrations, and community festivities. Discovering and documenting local building technique and handicraft making methodologies was important during the design process, as it serves to inspire modern architecture.

Hillbrow Counselling Centre / Local Studio

Prior to initiation of this project, the Outreach Foundation provided a very impact-full counselling service to trauma victims in Hillbrow, an area rife with crime and violence. In recent years, counselors at the center were trained further in handling unique trauma relating to migrants and refugees.

The association of neighbors of Barral has a headquarters located in Campo da Festa de Barral, on the rivershore of Castrelo de Miño. This place is used for meetings and activities of this association of neighbors linked to the reservoir and the Nautical Park, as well as for the preparations of the aforementioned eel party, which begin months before with meetings on the weekends to prepare the eels to be served later in the celebration.

New Community Center for Otica Native Community / Semillas

Background. Otica’s native community is located on the banks of the Rio Tambo in the central jungle of Peru. The community already had a local communal space built entirely in concrete by the local government. However, this construction has gone into a state of disuse due to the lack of cultural presence and the absence of conditions of environmental comfort. That is why the community continued to need a meeting and gathering space.

Ronald McDonald House / Taller ACÁ + Little Coins

The Ronald McDonald House located in Guatemala City is part of a family of facilities within the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The foundation houses families from the country’s interior whose children are undergoing medical treatment in the national hospital in Guatemala’s capital city. The House will annually host more than 2000 families under the motto “A home away from home”.
