The new kitchen extension has been designed by Studio Jayga Architects for a young family with demanding city careers in Loughton, Essex UK. The ground floor of the 1930s semi-detached property was completely reconfigured, including a brand new kitchen extension. The brief entailed creating a space for modern-day, open-plan living with a strong connection to the 300 ft long beautiful garden.

Ladan Shed / Johan Sundberg Arkitektur

March 10, 2022 Bianca Valentina Roșescu 0

Tucked in the soft hills of Scania, on the grounds of a historical farm, Johan Sundberg built a little shed: a humble, almost archetypical building, rooted in tradition, at the same time contemporary and refined. The client – Johan Sundberg’s regular customer and a friend – wanted “a funhouse for himself, as well as for bats and insects” on a family-owned property.

Copera Garden / Tomás García Píriz

In the surroundings of the city of Granada, immersed in the agricultural void of the rural environment of La Vega, the periphery is shown through its other “cities”: dotted and unstructured urban developments, agricultural infrastructures, contemporary ruins of abandoned farms, centers commercial and, of course, industrial parks. The club Industrial Copera is located in one of these harsh industrial spaces, a paradigmatic musical center within the national scene. The need, as a result of COVID-19, to expand its outdoor musical offerings and other cultural activities leads it to occupy the adjacent parking lot to convert it into a stage space.

Vizafogó Kindergarten Budapest / Archikon

February 23, 2022 Hana Abdel 0

General description – The kindergarten is located close to the river Danube, surrounded by a ten-story block of flats from the socialist prefabricated housing program. While preserving the existing prefabricated two-story kindergarten building from the 1980s, this modernization and expansion have given the kindergarten a new and integral identity. The rooms were expanded towards the original courtyard, and a covered, wooden outdoor playground was added in the front. The building opens up under the new roof’s outline to compensate for the shut and rigid environment of the prefabricated panel blocks.

House K / Kart Projects | Architecture

February 9, 2022 Hana Abdel 0

The clients for this project – a couple and their two kids – wanted a single-story house while also retaining as much of their garden as possible on a relatively small block. The design strategy was to remove the old lean-to and add a small 50 m2 extension of connected living spaces, increasing the total footprint of the house by 30 m2, making the most of each space by overlapping functions rather than adding a new room for each.

Sycamore House / Cairn

February 5, 2022 Andreas Luco 0

Sycamore is the complete renovation and extension of a 1960’s house for a family of four on the edge of a historic Buckinghamshire village. The clients loved the location and extraordinary hilltop views of the Chiltons countryside, but the house was too small and in urgent need of refurbishment. The interior was entirely rebuilt, with extensions added to the side and rear, all new glazing throughout, and new landscaping with an external lap-pool overlooking the wonderful view. Only the front wall and garage remain of the original house, maintaining the consistent character of the street. The build was completed in March 2020, just in time for lockdown.
