The project transforms a house in the historic area of Carrer Major, in the old town of Gelida. It is a house with a ground floor, a first floor, and a semi-basement used as storage. Located on a corner, the original house – from the beginning of the 20th century – lost its garden due to the construction of a block to which some rooms of the house were annexed.

A bay-shaped landform formed on the banks of a river, separate from the mainstream. It is called a ” WAND (湾処) “. The gentle flow of the river, while maintaining its connection, nurtures a variety of vegetation and forms a rich biotope. For everyone who gathers here, “ 京都湾処 (KYOTOWAND) ” will be a little bit gentle and free between “to here” and “from here”. KYOTOWAND is filled with such wishes. A bay-shaped land formed on the banks of a river that is separate from the mainstream is called WAND (湾処). The gentle flow of the river, while maintaining its connection with the mainstream, nurtures a variety of vegetation and creates a rich and diverse biotope. KYOTOWAND (京都湾処) is desired to be like this gentle and free place for everyone who gathers here whether they are coming or going. This wish is expressed in the name of the place itself; KYOTOWAND.

Soft Serve House / YSG.STUDIO

Concept – Preserving its historical essence as a purpose-built late 19th- century Victorian Georgian corner shop (The Balmain Supply Store), the three-storey sandstone family abode was revived with an adroit telescoping of eras and artistic influences. Furnishings and fixtures subtly reference Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s delicate Art Nouveau flourishes and the quiet restraint of timber framing devices prevalent in traditional Japanese interiors. Within, bold hues and textures harmoniously mingle with whisper-soft sensuality.

Design of Yitang Music Hub / LI WENXI ARCHITECTS

October 11, 2022 Collin Chen 0

Hangzhou Damei creative park is located in the north of Xiangshan Campus of China Academy of Art(CAA), it backed by the rolling Longwu tea mountain. It is a gathering place of many cultural companies. One year later, our studio realized its second design here – Yitang Music Hub. The construction of the two projects (Front Hall of Tianmei Theater and Yitang Music Hub) caught up with the hottest months in Hangzhou. We received the Commission for the design project of Yitang Music Hub at the end of April this year(2022). Because the owner hopes to open it in mid-July, we only have one month for design and one and a half months for construction. Admittedly, the high temperature and short cycle put a lot of pressure on us, but in Hangzhou, there is a rule that the worse the weather, the better the sky. Therefore, when I went to the site, I saw the most beautiful sunset and tea mountain in Hangzhou in July.

A traditional Queenslander Typology restricted the nature of a contemporary family home. We wanted to minimize the impact of any extension on the grandeur of the original house. The traditional undercroft of a home in the sub-tropical environment of the southeast has traditionally been the coolest part of the home.

Villa Theatro / Arquitectos Aliados

October 10, 2022 Andreas Luco 0

This building was originally designed in the early 20th century by Architect Moura Coutinho to house a bakery on the ground floor and offices and residential units above. Several changes of use and changes to the design ensued towards the end of the millennium. Early in the new century, Arquitectos Aliados were commissioned to design and coordinate a compre-hensive overhaul of the building including the interior design package and delivery, this time with a strong hospitality component whilst keeping the commercial condition on the ground floor. The original façade, with its two markedly asymmetrical lower floors in contrast with the rigorously sym-metrical upper floors, owes its conception to early 19th Century architecture and to several trips Moura Coutinho had made to France.

House without Walls / Chaoffice

Escape from the metropolis
The clients are a young couple, both of whom are designers. They grew tired of the plethora of urban issues which plague Beijing, much like any other major metropolis around the world. They decided to move to Jinan, a secondary city in China, which offered more space and a lower cost of living. Our first meeting together occurred before the approaching era of the pandemic, and the husband told me that for them it was not important to be based in any particular city as their work required them to travel often both domestically and abroad. Their new house would become both their home and office.
