The architecture of the salt sheds is not simple, but it aims to be elementary. In other words, it emanates from the composition of a few elements following intelligible rules. In these design missions, with no site supervision, the primary objective is coherence: clear constructive expression, formal intelligibility, and precise syntactic rules.

A sense of community, visible sustainability, and integrated artwork are among the most important elements in this student housing association department that shows a well-designed example of how to build dense, relevant, and green. Copenhagen-based ADEPT is the design architect behind the 130 DGNB Gold-certified studios and small family homes in Aarhus DK. Completed in 2020, Dept.76. was designed for a local housing association, with the aim to reduce loneliness through opportunities to engage in social activities within the complex. From the courtyard to the roof terrace, the complex is characterized by community-based solutions and by building-integrated art, which adorns walls, corridors, and stairs throughout.

This new urban house is inserted into a neighborhood of mid 60’s modern architecture houses in Santiago. An urban area that is distinguished by large sites, aged trees, and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The main aim of the project is to construct a compact and rough architecture that accommodates contemporary life, but at the same time safeguards the memory of the urban context, emphasizing the material dialogue and space relationships with the existing types of old modern houses of the context.

Sport and dancing between trees. New sports hall „In den Breitwiesen“, Gerlingen. Even from a distance, the cubic building impresses with its simplicity and restrained elegance: With a facade of perforated, fine trapezoidal sheet and circumferential windows, the new sports hall in Gerlingen forms an impressive prelude to the “Breitwiesen Stadion”. The building is directly connected to the existing outdoor sports facility and the new “Sportlerboulevard” (Athletes’ Boulevard) running along the playing field, which creates a link to the stands and the schoolyard of the nearby school. The hall thus blends harmoniously into the natural environment as well as the surrounding buildings.

While conceiving the architecture for this home in Ahmedabad, one of our primary drivers was a response to the hot and dry summers in the city, with average daytime temperatures reaching 42 degrees Celsius. The form of the house is derived from its climactic orientation as well as shading devices that keep the internal spaces cool. Deep verandahs and overhangs, horizontal pergolas, and vertical louvers gently filter the fierce sun.

Against the background of “Build Simply”, we developed a simple type of house for the WOGENO property, which is accessed via a common entrance, that leads to two central stairwells.
