In the heart of the Arava region, at the foot of Mount Darga, is the Arava Aquatic Sport Center. The project offers a multi-pool sports facility and community center to the various desert communities of the Arava, and it replaces the single outdoor pools in each of the communities. The structure is used for swimming lessons and competitions, as well as various sports, leisure, and recreational classes. It also serves as an open platform for community activities and public events. The project restores part of the historical role of the well: Water as a source of life and a place that allows opportunities for encounters and social activities.

The Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (PEGS) Music Centre, located in Melbourne, Australia, is the latest in a series of interventions undertaken by McBride Charles Ryan (MCR) across the PEGS Campuses. The existing single-level Victorian ‘house’ in this project was used by the School for music tuition. This new building sits alongside one of MCR’s earliest projects for PEGS, completed in 2009, the Junior Boys’ Year 5&6 Building, which plays with the tension between the School and its suburban context, perception, and childhood imagination. This new project was to refurbish the existing historic Music House, add to and provide improved spaces for music tuition and performance.

Architect Meirav Galan designed the “Neve Tzedek Patio House” located in the historic Neve Tzedek neighborhood of Tel Aviv. The townhouse, of which the extension and preservation were completed in 2020, was one of the first houses built in the picturesque neighborhood at the end of the 19th century and was originally built as a one-story house with a flat roof. During the 1930s, the house was extended and architecturally redesigned, adding a second floor with a tiled roof, a gallery balcony, and exterior stairs. With the passage of time, the beautiful house suffered from neglect. However, it was recently sold to its new owners, a family of six.

The existing land has only a few mature “Trees” and these need to be kept, this is an important task in our research process.

Small Office in Minami Aoyama / Atelier Write

Small Office in Minami Aoyama. This is a project for a small office for a tech start-up company located in a quiet area of Minami Aoyama, Tokyo. Since the total plan was decided in the early stage, I was supposed to design the interior of the president’s room, however, I thought that the relationship of each room would improve the quality of the whole office, so I replanned to design the whole interior design of the office. Therefore, it was premised on a proposal that the cost would not increase significantly from the original general specifications. In this situation, it was needed to provide a president’s office, a meeting room that doubles as a place for several employees to work, and a seminar room for engineer training for other companies.

The Sustainable Development Goals call for “all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men, and women, to achieve literacy and numeracy” by 2030. Approximately 750 million people over the age of 15 still lack basic reading and writing skills. There exists a direct relationship between reading/human literacy and issues such as reduction in crime, poverty alleviation, improvement of health, and increase in employment.

Designed for a young couple, the brief was to create a home that embodied the relaxed, coastal lifestyle of Barwon Heads. The transformation needed to allow for entertaining and to maintain a strong connection between inside and outside, old and new. Upon entering the restored period home, the light interior is immediately present and carefully contrasted by new charcoal floorboards. Heritage features are maintained through use of the original lining board ceilings, as well as period skirting and architraves, which fit perfectly with the renewed tones.

In Hyderabad’s dry, hot climate, the vast majority of office-goers are resigned to spend their entire day within the confines of air-conditioned space with very little access to fresh air from the outdoors. Hyderabad–a once laid-back town– is now a competitive cosmopolitan city, attracting many big-tech companies, who build millions of square feet of office space per year.
