New Bund District Church / Ábalos + Sentkiewicz arquitectos

The Church is located in the southern corner of the entrance to the new urban development of New Bund, located south of the Chinese metropolis of Shanghai. This unique location makes the project the natural gateway to the international residential area of ​​the new district, as well as part of a linear park that runs along the Huangpu River, in accordance with urban planning. The proximity of the infrastructures of the subway to the west conditions the geometry of the plot and endows it with a marked longitudinal character.

Following the earthquakes of September 2017, different architectural offices, designers and collaborators, both national and international, joined ReConstruir México, a project supported by PienZa Sostenible, which emerged with the aim of joining forces to achieve a conscious and sustainable reconstruction. Seventeen months after the tragedy, PienZa Sostenible has managed more than 150 reconstruction projects in 6 states thanks to the support of different donors, agencies and volunteers, with the aim of improving the quality of life of people in communities that not only suffered serious effects on their heritage, but also present serious cases of vulnerability and social deprivation.

Jungle Frame House / Studio Saxe

The client commissioned Studio Saxe to create a dwelling in the jungle that brings the outside in. The property was composed of a slope that went down into a beautiful creek that overlooks the jungle. Studio Saxe decided to create a large triple height space to be able to see the sky all the way from the bottom of the jungle floor and to appreciate the full scope of every tree that surrounds the house.

When we visited the land for the first time, we saw a series of specific details that we liked a lot, such as the presence of a forest with native species and the natural shape of the land on which the house was to be built. We decided from the beginning that the topographical form should be preserved in its entirety without any alteration.

Casa Palomba / abarca+palma

Stand-alone house located in the rural commune of Lampa, located on the northwest side of Santiago, Chile. It’s hermetic and open at the same time. The first floor closed around its perimeter and contains two courtyards at the longitudinal ends of the house. Between them is a common space for the kitchen, dining and living rooms, this configuring a linear and successive space between three continuous situations that are always connected with both courtyards, creating an interior composed of an interior, intermediate and exterior spaces.
