For the special dance exhibition of the Fifth National University Art Performance is held in Shanghai University in 2018, the original designed will be difficult to meet the artistic needs of the exhibition, so it needs functional transformation and transformation. At the same time, with the urban development of Baoshan District in Shanghai, the business and living facilities of Shanghai University have gradually matured, but the professional concert hall facilities are almost blank. Shanghai University has the greatest advantage of human resources in the region. The functional transformation of Weichang Building is conducive to improving the current situation of the lack of cultural and artistic facilities in Baoshan District, which can not only meet the needs of daily art teaching for school teachers, but also meet the needs of various high-level performances, maximizing the public service function.

Time passing, life changing, more and more possibilities coming up, all these have directly and drastically left marks on Beijing Hutong, which seems to be history, but for me, it’s more like future. From June 1st 2019, number 36 Guozijian Street, a small Hutong house will be put into use after more than two years of design and construction. There will be a small exhibition about our design practice. Actually it’s more of a review of our past, and we hope we can find something fun out of it, like finding new knowledge in an old book.

SND Store / Various Associates

June 23, 2019 Collin Chen 0

From the architectural dimension, the store is designed to be a medium where customers can explore the relation between body and space. The layout is pure and simple, with a symbolic “milestone” placed at the center right on the central-axis. The “milestone” holds an obvious implication —— a new starting point for SND to move towards an internationally representative buyer’s shop. In addition, the church-like architectural form serve as an embodiment of SND’s brand belief, which is to strike a balance between keeping the brand personality and catching on the fashion trends. The open display area on both sides resembles a square. Through its unique layout, customers can know clearly the routes and can view every product in display while walking, offering them a chance to select and compare goods easily.

Yangjing Canal Pedestrian Bridge / Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects

June 20, 2019 Collin Chen 0

Located at the eastern tip of the East Bund Mingshen Wharf, the Yangjing Pedestrian Bridge crosses over the Yangjing Canal where it flows into the Huangpu River, connecting the Mingshen Wharf with the Yangjing Park which is visually connected to the majestic long-span Yangpu Bridge. As a triangular-shaped truss structure bridge, its main bridge width is 10.75 meters, with a span of 55 meters and a total length of 140 meters. Integrated with structure, function and form, the design utilizes the height difference of the structure to divert the various usage flows: cycling, jogging and walking. Also known as Huihong Bridge, its futuristic and graceful form represents a comet, or “Hui”, streaking across the starry sky, bridging a clear and deep water, or “Hong”, and pointing towards Lujiazui CBD. The bow-like structure metaphorically foretells the launching of the first slow-traffic bridge in the East Bund.
