Climb Maebashi Office / SAKUMAESHIMA

October 14, 2021 chlsey 0

This office is located on the fourth floor of a building that used to be a department store in front of Maebashi Station in Gunma Prefecture. This building was typical of a department store with few windows to let in natural light and a deep floor plan. At first, I had the impression that the building was in disrepair as an environment for people to work and live in. However, at the same time, we thought that by accepting this building type and making use of the unique space of a department store. So we could build an office that was unique to CLIMB.

Project Summary – For a house built on a plantation for a family of four on the slope of Mt. Kawi in East Java, Indonesia, Ivan Priatman Architecture stacked two rectangular blocks neatly to minimize the cutting down of existing trees. The second-floor volume is rotated to cantilever past the first-floor volume creating engaging spaces that are formed by the juxtaposition. The house, all clad with local sandstone, blends the massiveness and weight of the textured stone blocks, with the weightlessness that is implied by the hovering volume.

The site for this project is located near a major intersection where passing trucks and other traffic create major noise and shaking. The clients, a married couple with two children, nevertheless wanted to build a home in this location, in part because they had inherited the lot from relatives.

Vietnam is a developing country, urbanization is happening rapidly and it is driving people away from nature. The buildings around us are gradually concreting and leaving bad effects on our own living environment. Yen Architecture hopes that through this project, people will reconnect to nature.

Mist. The first thing that came into our mind when we started to work on this F&B design, which became our core concept of this project. The LED light is installed at the ceiling, starting from the entrance to the end of the space, running through the smoke from the shisha, like blood running through the veins inside a human body. While the LED light is covered up with smoke, it creates a more mystic and spiritual atmosphere.

House of calm on a windswept promontory – Sitting on the promontory of this windswept dune and rock peninsula in the Western Cape, a modern dwelling that maximizes views of the ocean and mountains was erected several years ago. The architects were challenged by this Atlantic Ocean house design and were briefed to adopt a starkly exposed glass box to a tranquil private home.
