“Win Win” is the name of two 19-storey high-rises on Speditionstraße in Düsseldorf, Germany, complemented by a six-story “loft house”, representing the first residential use in Düsseldorf’s so-called “media haven”. The pair of towers, which span a public area to the water basin with a “tapis” of colored concrete slabs between them, emerge from the prominent harbor silhouette with spires enclosed in a green patinated metal façade.

The building is designed to take advantage of the unique properties of the small, yet prominent site,” according to Brian Collins-Friedrichs, principal-in-charge for the project. “Sensitivity to pedestrians—scale, texture, materials, transparency, and public amenities—drove the design. This construction of high heritage quality is the witness of a time when these architects sought to reconcile the qualities of collective and individual housing through intermediate housing. They designed several variations throughout the territory.

Part A of Kaiser-Josef-Platz in Wels, Austria has been opened in 2021. The once large suburban square is intended to connect the country and the city. Our design shows influences from the surrounding area and the history of the landscape but should retain an urban character. Sufficiently cooling trees, which have already proven to be climate-friendly, together with the landscape islands, form the framework for the urban space, which, in addition to the dynamism that it already has, should also offer space to linger.

Collegio di Milano / Piuarch

Winner of the competition held by the Collegio Foundation of the Milanese Universities, the project is distinguished by its close dialogue with the existing building designed in the 1970s by Marco Zanuso, respecting its elevations, chromatic scheme, and branched form. The project began with a careful, in-depth functional analysis and a study of the relationships between itself and the existing building. The 50 residential units of the new structure are configured in two contiguous blocks, one facing southwest and the other southeast, such that the main façades do not clash with the existing ones.
