Building above an access road creates a new site. The retained passage leads off a typical Victorian street and accesses the Tin House. The surrounding street facades are brick and a load bearing brick arch within a building that respects the building lines and parapet heights, fills an unattractive gap and provides an additional new dwelling.

ODD Architects Creates Sunflower-Inspired Residential Tower for Ecuador

Quito-based odD+ Architects have designed a residential skyscraper inspired by sunflowers for Ecuador. Taking cues from the rhythmic formations of the plant’s seeds and petals, the tower is a direct response to the increasing urbanization of Quito. Aiming to address development patterns that threaten the natural landscape and its endemic species, the project was made to be a vertical ecosystem for the city.

London architecture studio Featherstone Young has built the Bay 20 community centre to replace the gym lost by the Dale Youth Amateur Boxing Club in the Grenfell Tower fire. The boxing club was based out of Grenfell Tower, a residential block in west London that caught fire in 2017, killing 72 people. Since then the club had been forced to

Eyhof Housing / Adrian Streich Architekten AG

The Eyhof housing estate is located in the midst of the green Albisrieden district, which is part of a garden city extending from Albisgüetli to Schlieremer Berg. Contiguous housing estates constructed in the late 1940s define the surroundings of the Eyhof. Residential buildings arranged in rows are carefully embedded in the topography, forming flowing green spaces. The neighbouring open spaces of the In der Ey and Letzi schoolhouses supplement the district’s spatial structure with park-like facilities. Scattered buildings from subsequent decades notwithstanding, the district exhibits a homogeneous architecture.
