Location and Status quo
Situated to the northwest of Hangzhou’s main urban area with a distance of about 60 kilometers, Chuan Village of Shanchuan Town, Anji County has an altitude of around 220 meters. It is surrounded by mountains, which makes a basin form in the middle part. With a stream crossing through the village, the flowing water has been in no absence for years and there are over one thousand mu of fertile fields. Before the village lies a meandering narrow path, of which one side is a bamboo grove and the other is the stream. And the sights will be broadened after finishing the path.  

Background
Shidao Resort, located in Weihai,Shandong, is the first time Duoxiang studio practices in the real nature. From design drawing to the reality, it lasts three years（2013-2015）. We hope it could be a response to some of the peoples’ essential requirements. “Life”, ”Atomosphere”, and ”Place” become the key concerns during three years’ discussion. Managing Place(composition)

By capturing natural light and shadow, Karv One draws inspiration from the highly agrarian image of “seeds” for the design of the new Yan Ji You book store in Hangzhou, located in Raffles City Plaza of Qianjiang New City. In continuation of its exploration on the relation between design and cities, Karv One applies the natural elements into the design of space and gives it a dynamic sense of life while strengthening the connection between brand design and Hangzhou culture.

City is a glamorous lieu that blends culture context with modern character; residence is the most basic space unit. When strong visual impact and artificial details prevail in postmodern city, how can we integrate residence within city’s richness and exhibit exquisiteness of life without artificialness?

At international stone exhibition Marmomac 2017, Chinese firm OPEN Architecture has created a transient installation titled “The Eternal & The Ephemeral” that allows visitors to transform a cube of stone tiles into new, unplanned forms. The project responds directly to the theme of the event, “Soul of City,” which asked designers from across the globe to collaborate with Italian stone manufacturers to create pieces built entirely from stone. OPEN’s concept focused on the relationship between transience and heaviness in the material, prompting the installation to gradually “disappear” over the 4-day event.

Named of Italian greeting word “Ciao amici”, a new bar which is located in Shenzhen China and designed by Hejidesign studio. 

Neri&Hu rehauls Opposite House’s BEI restaurant into “BEI Space” a multipurpose function room serving the increasing demand for meeting and event spaces in Beijing. While the typical function room in a hotel tends to be situated in dark enclosures with no natural light, the given site actually has an existing skylight. To fully utilize this asset, the design challenge becomes how to bring in as much light as possible to the space and how to subdue any sense of being underground. The resulting design concept, first, creates a landscape zone that is bathed in light, and second, inserts within it a luminous glass box.

Tradition and inheritance
Sanbao Art Museum is located in Sanbao village, a scenic place not far from the Central city of Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. In the past decade, porcelain artists were attracted here to build their own studios. Thus a nascent, dynamic, porcelain-centric hub is thriving and magnetizing even more talents to migrate here what comes along is their great passions and dreams in inheriting the tradition of porcelain art. Most of the industries here are porcelain related, causing a highly competitive environment, it will take great ingenuity and endless efforts to be the best.

The city develops and changes rapidly while architecture remains because of its lasting feature and embodies emotional memory and historical value. The contrast of new and old buildings are everywhere in the city, which is exactly the mark of the changing times.
