the new houses by arbol design are located in nerima-ku, tokyo, a little away at the end of a crowded shopping street. interested in design, the client inspired the architects with vintage-style images of american west coast and a sophisticated atmosphere of bauhaus in germany. with this background, the plan of the houses with a compact garage for eight residents of two families was born.
the back of the garage is an entrance to both of the houses. at the 1st floor, a dining room is centered, and a plan of the least waste of the spare space for the best convenience and comfort is chosen, plus japanese-style room, western-style room, toilet, cloak, courtyard are set in a way of japanese modern style. at the 2nd floor, a living/dining room space is set as large as possible, and the main bedroom, children room, toilet, and terrace are placed, with the aim of architecturally simple placement, so that the interior design is shined.
exterior walls are covered with wave-shaped galvalume plates, as well as the pillars and beams. the view from the terrace is only the sky, providing a comfortable private space.
