Camellia Hill Café Picnic / studio fragment

Picnic on the Camellia Hill
Camellia Hill is a large natural park on Jeju Island. People can think that Camellia is just a fairly common plant in Jeju. However, it is a warm creature that protects us from the stiff sea breeze of Jeju with its signature thick, bountiful leaves. Camellia is common in Jeju Island, but its warm properties are unique. As unique as it is, it is a place where everyone who visits Camelia Hill can receive a handful of warm hearts. It is also the starting point for conveying such feelings.

House in Ashiya / Kazunori Fujimoto Architect & Associates

October 22, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The site is located at the foot of Mt. Rokko, blessed with the green scenery of the mountain. The traffic on the frontal road, which is also a sightseeing route, is a little heavy, and the next house blocks the view. The house would be better where each person can have a sense of distance and relationship with each other. Also, it would be better the relationship between the inside-outside space is the same as the relationship between the family.

Songjeong Picture Book Village Public Facilities / studio MANI

Songjeong Picture book Village is a project to design a plaza, a bus stop and a visitor center in Songjeong Village, a small town in South Korea. It was the beginning of winter when we first visited the village with officials. Although the site was dilapidated with the bare trees and damaged bus stop, the simple houses of 30 families and the old trees made it possible to imagine the beautiful scenery of springtime.

JJ House / Ivan Priatman Architecture

JJ House is a house for a family of four in Surabaya, Indonesia. The house is characterized by a series of parallel primary walls that become the primary organizing element of the house. Towards the front of the house, the walls separate the garage and service areas, the house entrance, and the bedrooms. The entrance space defined by two primary walls, continues to a straight corridor leading to the main living-dining area towards the back of the house, becoming the spine of the house with bedrooms flanking one side and service areas flanking the other side.

Beyond Bauhaus RIBA Exhibition / Pezo von Ellrichshausen

October 21, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Instead of a literal translation of the Bauhaus aesthetic, we propose an architectonic experience that evokes both its original ethos and its current deviations. Our exhibition explores a severe sense of order, a kind of rational objectivity, together with a rather oblique presentation of the archival material. Beyond Bauhaus, in our view, can be understood as a form of ubiquitous transparency: a precisely regulated yet universal space that promotes a degree of mystery, curiosity and an endless variety of informal human encounters.

Living in a landscape
House BRAS is located on a lush green site abutting a pond in the middle of an old allotment in the suburbs of Antwerp. The house is designed to blend into its surrounding natural landscape. The meandering plan allows daylight to penetrate during all seasons and at any time of the day while achieving unobstructed views of the garden.

Genteng House / SASO Architecture Studio

October 20, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

This 70 m² house is located in Bekasi, West Java, about 40 minutes drive from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta. Surrounded by high-density houses with 6-meter wide street at the east & south of the site. The basic thinking behind Genteng House is as simple as the love for mother nature. Genteng House stands on the site where an old house stood for years. The old house was abandoned, for most of its materials were badly broken, a slight renovation couldn’t simply help. No matter how bad, we couldn’t help but thinking that it is impossible for us to donate such amount of waste to our mother earth.

The Star House / Z3Z ARCHITEKCI

October 20, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The Star House owes its name to its owners house guest, who after having the opportunity to experience the architecture, compared its shape to a star. The project made a deep impression on him, so much so, he later asked the architects responsible for the Star House to design one especially for him. The association made by the house guest is justified – the house consists of three volumes, placed radially to one another at different angles. It provides an interesting and rare opportunity to see the exterior facade of the house from the inside.  Each volume represents different functions: living, sleeping and utility.

Goddeeris Headquarters / DDM Architectuur + BHOOM Creative Design unit

October 20, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The client is an industrial HVAC and piping company that has been experiencing accelerated growth in recent years. Their existing “collection” of company buildings in the center of Roeselare was no longer sufficient and they needed to move to a new location to allow further growth and to build an efficient and employee-friendly environment. Every day, around 120 people work at Goddeeris for the installation of HVAC and piping. About 20 of them handle the head office while the others shuttle between the new headquarters and the different construction sites. The building program comprises 850 m2 of office space for engineers, managers and project leaders plus social spaces for the entire team, a 1500m2 warehouse area for equipment delivery and storage and almost 1800m2 covered parking for commercial vehicles, big and small.
