Massings is a term which is used in architecture. Generally, its main concern are the size, form and shape of the buildings. There are lots of styles that reflect this term. For example, the Gothic style always has the recognizable tall structure and the Prairie School is always horizontal. The designing in architecture starts with this term. It is the detail that leaves the first impression and what makes a mark in your mind. From a distance, you do not see the interior in the building, you only see the shape and the size.
