British architect David Chipperfield speaks to Dezeen editor Amy Frearson about his relationship with Venice in this exclusive talk at Casa Flora to coincide with the Venice Architecture Biennale. Tune in from 4.20pm UK time to watch it live.

Frearson talks to the architect about the challenges and opportunities of architectural exhibitions, the role and status of the architecture profession today, and the lessons creatives can take from the Venice Architecture Biennale.

Chipperfield, who ranked at number 42 on Dezeen Hot List 2017, is one of Britain’s leading architects. He has has worked on a range of prolific projects, including the Museum of Modern Literature in GermanyMuseo Jumex in Mexico and the upcoming Nobel Center in Stockholm.

He has a long connection with Venice, having curated the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012 and is carrying out major restoration works on the historic Procuratie Vecchie on Venice’s Piazza San Marco.

The talk coincides with an exhibition of David Chipperfield Architects’ work at Palladian Basilica in nearby Italian city Vicenza, where 15 of the firms projects are being presented in various stages of development.

The talk is part of a programme of events Dezeen is hosting at Casa Flora from 23 to 26 May, including screenings of our new documentary Elevation. The short documentary explores how drones will change cities – revolutionising how people travel, how goods are delivered and how buildings look and are constructed.
