Fondation Maeght Extension / Silvio d’Ascia Architecture

Between November 2022 and May 2024, the Fondation Maeght conducted significant building works for the first time since its opening. Respecting the original building by Josep Lluís Sert, four new rooms will be inaugurated in June 2024 for the foundation’s 60th anniversary. These rooms embody a new era for the Fondation Maeght. Inspired by large American foundations, the visionary couple Marguerite and Aimé Maeght – printers and gallery owners for some of the most important artists of the 20th century – imagined the first foundation dedicated to modern and contemporary art in France. Inaugurated in 1964 by André Malraux, this place was designed by architect Josep Lluís Sert for and with the artists. Ahead of its time, Sert already took into account ecology (impluviums to collect rainwater, the orientation of the building) and dialogue in perfect harmony with the landscape and the works specially created by Georges Braque, Joan Miró, Pierre Tal Coat, Marc Chagall, Pol Bury, Diego Giacometti, or Raoul Ubac.

5ª Avenida Building / Mário Alves arquiteto

The project is located in one of the oldest streets in the Aveiro city, where the architectural richness of the old facades is a hallmark of the city. The project is based on the demolition of a degraded building and the construction of a multifamily housing and commercial building. As such, given the context of the place, one of the premises of the project is to maintain and rehabilitate the facade of the existing building, requalifying it and thus preserving its historical and architectural value in the arrangement of Dr. Lourenço Peixinho Avenue.

Le Petit Merlot House / NatureHumaine

Located in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal district, the project consists of the renovation and expansion of a duplex dating from the 1920s. Our project nicknamed ”le Petit Merlot” owes, among other things, its name to the neighborhood that hosts it, Le Petit Laurier. With its lively shopping street, this neighborhood represents the typical Montreal way of life where relationships between neighbors are built around a good meal. Petit Merlot owes its name to this spirit of conviviality but also to its red clay brick cladding which characterizes the surrounding built environment.

National Office of Forests of Versailles / Atelier Delalande Tabourin

Standing beside a railway line, the existing building of the National Office of Forests of Versailles (l’Office National des Forêts de Versailles) asserts its role in the urban landscape as the point of entry to the state-owned forest. Our simple idea for the project was to build a pavilion as an extension of an existing building that fits humbly into the forest context and, through its volumetry and materiality, expresses the different occupations of the ONF. The objective was to create new working spaces that met the functional requirements of the brief but that also approached the workplace as a singular spatial and landscaped experience. We designed this pavilion to arouse the curiosity and wonderment of visitors. Whether they are collaborators or just passersby, we want their discovery of this place to be an immersive experience, where every corner is an ode to the skills and expertise of foresters.

Being an extension house project of the previously designed house by DP+HS Architects, this was a notable project due to its strong presence and unique brief. The clients wanted a tailored home that was sumptuous yet subdued, having the quality of outdoor activity yet enclosed and a private atmosphere. Due to its nature as an extension house, the program is quite straightforward: a collection of rooms to support the activity of the main house, which are a swimming pool, sauna, lounge, playing room, and basketball court.
