Danske Bank’s Domicile / Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects

August 16, 2024 Pilar Caballero 0

Danske Bank’s new headquarters is the setting for a modern company with more than 140 years of history. The two buildings that make up the HQ promote a simple, non-hierarchical organizational structure with a focus on innovation, cooperation, and accessibility. The two red brick-built structures add to the rich long-standing tradition of brick architecture in Copenhagen and create a visual connection to the classic city blocks that are characteristic of the area. The new headquarters contribute to a more coherent Bernstorffsgade and greatly enhance the experience of arriving into the city from Kalvebod Brygge. The building’s brick exterior opens up, transitioning into a transparent glass facade that invites people in from several sides. Overall, the goal was to create a welcoming and unique experience for customers and visitors to the buildings, as well as a workplace that helps attract and retain talented employees.

Axel Towers is a mixed-use office building with a rich variation of niches, heights and diameters that balance lightness and weight. The five towers are playful like neighboring Tivoli Gardens, robust enough to anchor a bustling part of Copenhagen and generous in the public spaces they offer people in and around them.

A Pavillion Of Rain / Sthapotik

July 14, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Background – The project is an endearing tale of a mother and her son, reminiscing about an old (1980s) building with its surroundings in Dhaka city & the transformation of the once green city into a concrete jungle. The architect met the client while he was playing badminton at the playground located at the site. During their interaction, the architect noticed the client’s love and responsibility towards his mother, as well as the nostalgic emotions he carries about the complex. The architect came to know that the client is the only guardian of his mother, who has been a patient with Schizophrenia for a long time. She requires close caregiving, and the client is the only person who can manage her during the attacks. The story of emotions became the key ingredient of the design process.

The new office building for ‘De Watergroep’ in the Koning Boudewijnstraat, near St. Peter’s Station, consists of a four-story main building and a meeting hub at the back of the site. The complex stands on an underground parking area. Within the urban context, this project provides for maximum but elegant densification. The concept of the facade starts from a thorough reading of the street elevation that responds to the horizontal layering and vertical articulation of the houses in the surroundings.

CNS Office / Studio Avocado

The design requirement was a minimalistic contemporary design with glass-walled spaces and rich landscaping. The client’s requirement to incorporate koi fish ponds in the landscape has been set as a priority. Instead of creating a pond amidst the landscape, an experiment was done to bring the waterbody and landscape into the design. Hence, the concept of a floating office was explored by introducing the waterbody and designing it above it. The landscaping was used as a tool to provide uniformity. To preserve the architecture of the old office as it is, but to blend it with the new office. The design has to embrace the rich green landscape into the interior spaces. Thus, adopting tropical architecture to blend the built environment and the landscape efficiently turned into a beautiful and unique office space.

Guardia di Finanza Office Building / DEMOGO

July 13, 2024 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The new regional headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza offices in Bologna, Italy is a project situated within a complex context—an area on the margins enclosed by urban partitions and characterized by a series of heterogeneous spaces. To the north, the railway line and Bologna’s high-speed train station create a continuous curtain of partitions and logistic infrastructures. To the south, there’s the dynamic and evolving area of the DumBO Social Center. To the east, it is bordered by Via Tanari and the layered edges of the stratified city of Bologna. DEMOGO’s project interprets this marginal urban condition as an opportunity for connection and regeneration within the district. The new structure, perpendicular to Via Tanari and seamlessly integrated with the original core of the Bertarini Barracks, functions as a compact element with an articulated elevation. A series of terraces, in harmony with the office areas, are designed as outdoor extensions to the program. These elevated gardens, gradually descending along the five above-ground floors of the building, are conceived as spaces that not only enhance the environmental quality of the work areas but also establish a visual connection with the urban landscape of the city of Bologna.
