January 26, 2021 Hana Abdel 0

The 59 is a brand new coffee shop, which was converted from an old building from the 70s. Unlike the other café with a modern, up-to-date style that we usually catch in Da Nang– a crowded city, The 59 is hidden at the end of a small alley on Hai Phong street.

Meifeng Community Park / ZIZU STUDIO

January 25, 2021 罗靖琳 - Jinglin Luo 0

Land vacant for twenty years
The Meilin area is located in the north of Futian District and is also the “backside”. It is mainly mixed with functions such as urban villages, old houses and industrial areas. The urban buildings are aging and the spatial quality is not high, forming a large number of “urban blind spots”. Meifeng Community Creative Park is located at the intersection of Zhongkang Road and Beihuan Road in Futian District. It covers an area of 4,674.35 square meters. The plot originally belonged to the same plot as Linbian Community. Due to disputes between the owner and the developer, the site was closed in 2000. Division processing. The public facilities promised by the developers to the owners have not been realized, and the owners are therefore very sensitive to the construction of the land. They have repeatedly resisted the development of the land, and the land has been idle for nearly 20 years.

The former Berlin Palace(Berliner Schloss), constructed since 1443 as the residence of the Brandenburg princes, was partially transformed at the beginning of the 18th century into the baroque palace of those same sovereigns, who in 1701 became kings of Prussia and in 1871 also German emperors. Damaged by the Second World War II bombing, the Berlin Palace was lastly razed to the ground for ideological reasons- as a symbol of Prussian militarism -in 1950 by the holders of political power of the GDR.

Cabanyal House / Nodopía, Arquitectura y Diseño

January 19, 2021 Valeria Silva 0

Casa Cabanyal is a terraced family house located in one of the neighborhoods with the most personality in Valencia, El Cabanyal. This neighborhood has its own architecture that differentiates it from the rest of the city. The comprehensive renovation and interior design proposed in this project seek to respect and enhance its intrinsic character while providing spatiality and luminosity to the house. Therefore, one of the starting criteria was to conserve the existing materials and maintain the spirit of the traditional architecture of this neighborhood in the choice of new materials. The clear protagonists are the wooden entrance door, which is recovered, and the original brick that surrounds the space and that stands out thanks to the indirect lighting incorporated in the project. The new materials, the clay vaults and paving, the wooden carpentry and the colored tile, reminiscent of the neighborhood’s colorful facades, harmonize with the original materials.

Apartment Building in Paris / CoBe

January 19, 2021 Andreas Luco 0

The project, at the corner of the Ridder and Vercingétorix streets in Paris 14th arrondissement, consists of the refurbishment and the raising three levels of a narrow mixed-use services building, into a 37-unit residence, being the first building managed by the Samu Social in Paris. The coated initial façade, its curved shape, mark the building of its design era. Its refurbishment gives it a more contemporary aspect, anchored it in its time, while nevertheless recalling the codes of typical Parisian architecture, also allowing it to impose itself in its street, in its environment. The orange coating has been replaced by a strong grey brick, the tone of which changes according to the sun. The very narrow plot has led to a very strict optimization of the project, and the conservation of a large part of the existing structure. All these constraints have given rise to a sharp project, rigorously designed and executed. In 2015, Groupe Galia acquired a private property in the 14th arrondissement, at the intersection of the Ridder and Vercingétorix streets, on a very narrow plot, a five-story building housing a training facility and offices.

Reception House in Higashiyama / nanometer architecture

January 19, 2021 Hana Abdel 0

The reception room and alcove are different depending on the seasons and guests. The reception room has disappeared from the house due to the diversification of lifestyles and the rationalization of floor plans, and the name is already unfamiliar to us. Its function has been thrown into cities such as cafes and galleries for a long time. I would like to reconsider the space between the reception room and the alcove.

AR Residence / DEDRAFT

January 19, 2021 Paula Pintos 0

Located in a densely populated, busy street close to the impressive town hall building in Walthamstow the existing terraced house dates back to the 1920s. With both neighbours having rear extensions (one being built concurrently to AR) the terrace features a hotchpotch of largely, banal rear extensions tacked on over the decades.
